A professional women’s organization has honored an oil and gas industry veteran with its annual award.
The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) named Denise A. Smiles as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year for her leadership in the oil and gas industry.
Smiles is CEO of Optical Metrology Services Ltd. (OMS), which supplies pipe measurement and inspection products and services to the global market. The company’s services include a wide range of internal and external measurement tools to ensure the precise measurement of pipes in onshore and offshore oil and gas installations.
OMS is now launching a service to internally inspect and measure welds to ensure the quality and prevent environmental disasters.
Smiles joined OMS in 2006. She has more than 15 years of experience helping blue chip companies improve revenue streams and profit, and she has done the same for OMS.
OMS has headquarters in Houston and Hertfordshire, UK. Recently, the company received the prestigious 2014 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the innovation category, the second time OMS has won this important award presented in the United Kingdom. A global leader in the oil and gas industry, OMS also provides its measurement expertise to other industries, from aerospace and defense to academic institutions and others.
