Locating and potholing utility workers will find their workhorse with the new Ditch Witch FXT65 vacuum excavator. The model optimizes airflow for the highest performance output, offering 1,215 cfm — 20 percent more than previous models.
Turbocharged with a 74-hp (55-kW) diesel engine, the truck-mounted excavator is designed to handle sizeable cleanup jobs, larger excavations and potholing. To meet the needs of virtually any jobsite, this versatile machine is equipped with excellent water excavation capabilities and a high-powered air excavation system is also offered on the FXT65 Air model.
McLaughlin offers a line of large-capacity vacuum excavators ideally suited for both the mid-sized HDD contractor, as well as large diameter pipeline contractors.
The MEGA 2000 skid-mounted vacuum excavator has a 99-hp Kubota diesel engine with a 1,200-cfm blower and features a 2,000-gal spoil tank and 925 gal of fresh water.
The MEGA 2600 skid-mounted vacuum excavator is designed for fluid management and HDD support for large to maxi size rigs. The MEGA 2600 is typically paired with the PP100XT DEEP power pack, providing additional suction power with the 23 in. of mercury DEEP blower for increased fluid management capabilities. The MEGA 2600 also features 300 gal of fresh water..
Super Products LLC designed and builds its Mud Dog 1600 to meet the demanding hydro excavation challenges inherent in oil field, mining and cold weather applications. This unit features a 16-yd debris body, standard 2,000-gal water tank setup and rear-mounted boom that in addition to offering 335-degree rotation can pivot down 25 degrees for 8 ft of extra digging and access to hard-to-reach areas.
For outstanding digging performance, the 1600 offers water pressures up to 18 gpm at 3,000 PSI in combination with its 8-in. positive displacement vacuum system that provides air flow of 5,800 cfm/28 Hg to ensure thorough cleanup of debris. An onboard boiler heats up the high-pressure water to break up frozen, stubborn material and flush out tight spaces efficiently. Winter recirculation, anti-freeze and air purge systems ensure the unit performs optimally in even the harshest of climates. Its aluminum cabinet, heated by dual 714,000 Btu/Hr heaters, provides easier access and increased storage capacity.
The Mud Dog 1600 hydro excavator also has several unique features that result in time and cost savings as well as provide operator convenience. Coupled with Super Products’ industry-unique ejector plate technology, the unit’s ability to tilt its debris body 2 ft enables fast, thorough unloading
The Vacmasters SYSTEM 6000 is the first air system with the ability to trench and pothole. Engineered and designed from the ground up, the SYSTEM 6000 uses supersonic air from a proprietary nozzle to rapidly dig in every imaginable soil type faster and more efficiently than any other vacuum excavator on the market. All the components, including the 350-cfm/250 psi compressor, the 1,866-cfm positive displacement blower and the high pressure water system are all powered by a single, enclosed John Deere 250-hp turbo diesel engine for quiet, dependable operation.
Features include a self-purging filtration system, selectable air or water digging, remote operation up to 200 ft away, fast-acting interceptor canister, fully supervised control panel, 270-degree wireless-remote hose boom, full opening rear door, enclosed power-head and low-maintenance design.
The SYSTEM 6000’s ability to use air rather than water when trenching and potholing means the job gets done faster, more efficiently (spoils stay dry for backfilling), more economically (mud hauling and disposal costs are eliminated) and much more safely (air won’t damage utilities and is non-conductive). Also, air-vacuum excavation is DOT friendly and won’t damage the road base.
Vactor Manufacturing has introduced a new Robuschi blower option for the company’s HXX HydroExcavator. The new blower, rated for 6,176-cfm and 28-in. Hg, delivers quieter operation and higher airflow — a 35-percent improvement in performance at the end of the vacuum hose over other competitive blowers. This performance improvement allows customers to complete the job in less time.
The new Vactor HXX also features a 3,000-psi variable water multi-flow pump with the new patent pending DigRight technology that allows the operator to select a maximum water pressure limit to prevent the pressure from exceeding site or industry requirements.
The DigRight technology includes a user-selectable maximum water pressure setting that controls the water pump’s maximum water pressure output, preventing wear and tear on check valves, unloader valves, and relief valves by avoiding bypassing water. The system has three default selectable pressure limitations based on industry best practices for digging around underground utilities — 1,500, 2,500 and 3,000 psi — with the option to deactivate the feature.
Westech Vac Systems Ltd., The newest member of the Federal Signal Environmental Solutions Group, designs and builds rugged, reliable vacuum truck systems for the toughest municipality, oil and gas, utility and industrial cleaning applications. Westech’s Hydrovac Code (TC407) excavation truck is specified with a TC407 rating (hazardous goods transport capable). The truck allows quick access to buried water mains and natural gas and petroleum pipelines, cutting through hardened scale and frozen ground with reduced risk of damage.
The Westech Hydrovac can handle the unpredictable off-road applications and the unknown hazardous materials, in every type of weather, from the freezing cold of winter or the heat and humidity of summer — 95 F to minus-40 F. Each unit features quick and easy setup so work can begin immediately, maximizing efficiency and productivity. Debris body capacities range from 11.8 to 13 cubic yards. The Hydrovac also features heated rear door valves, heated hose reel cabinet and glycol and air purge winterization systems. Westech products are backed by strong service and support as well as application expertise throughout the product life.
